The Nebula Capsule

Note: This page is a bit unsorted at the moment. I'll be adding to it and organizing it as I get the time. If you have comments, send them to motokochan ^at^ animeneko /dot/ net.

General Things

Play Store / Google Play Services

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to get the Play Store on the device, unlike some other devices. As best as I can tell, some core libraries are missing that would require root access and a modification of the system partition to install. Luckily, there are alternatives.

Manual Installation of Apps

I'm not a big fan of the included application store, but the Capsule supports installing APKs manually. You just need to put them on a USB stick and use the included USB OTG adapter to plug into the Capsule. Select the APKs from the included file manager and you're good.

Some Android TV applications will work on the device, which is great because these are optimized for directional pads and not touch. You can use APKMirror to find applications to install. Note that not all function correctly. I've tested the following ones and found them to work:

You can also install the Amazon App Store for Android and get applications there. Be aware that the application displays sideways, so use the Rotation application linked above to set "sensor landscape" mode. It displays great then.

App-Specific Issues

Netflix
Use the version on the built-in store if you want to run on the Capsule directly. Newer versions from APKMirror of either the AndroidTV or plain Android versions will not work because of changes made in the application.
YouTube
You will not be able to log in as it depends on the Google Account Provider, which the Capsule does not provide. No workaround.
